Bologna

2025. The Basilica of San Luca 📍  is one of Bologna's most iconic landmarks, perched on the Colle della Guardia and visible from much of the city. Built between the 17th and 18th centuries, it is renowned for its grand Baroque architecture and the world’s longest portico, comprising 666 arches, that connects the sanctuary to the historic city centre. Inside, it houses a revered icon of the Madonna and Child, traditionally attributed to Byzantine origins. The basilica is a major pilgrimage site and offers stunning panoramic views over Bologna and the surrounding Emilia-Romagna plain.
